Welcome to "Your Invited" 1.0.6 E-Card™. This E-Card™ replaces Invitaton1.0 and has major improvements and added capabilities with regard to my five previous E-Cards. The following is a list of some of the changes.
1. Proper handling of all keystrokes on all four pages. No sudden quits because of undefined key presses on the first two windows.(yeah!)
2. Better handling of mouse clicks for you trigger happy, nervous finger, mouse clickers. (flushes all excessive mouse clicks)
3. Includes "click window" prompts for those who don't know what to do without a "go-away" box.
4. Includes a file menu item that will allow the user to "Quit" the application after the presentation of each window or page of the E-Card. (whew!)
5. Includes a "Go Settings" file menu item which allows the user to go directly to the "Settings Dialog Box"(page) at the end of the program.
6. Includes a "Save and Quit" file menu item for the third page(Note Page) of the card.
7. Includes standard text editing capabilities for the "Note Page" and "Settings Page" of the E-Card with Keyboard equivalent commands. Text can be imported or exported to your favorite spell-checking word processor. (WOW!)
8. This card will also allow you to create and enter your own four line poem/wise-saying by clicking on the appropriate button on the Settings Page. The verses will be properly displayed on page two when the card is run. You can also return to the original poem text by clicking on the default button.
9. The card now includes a Password dialog box when the SAVE button is clicked. NO MORE FREE LUNCHES!!! If you want your name to be saved as part of the E-Card you must send in your registration fee of $10.00 for the E-Card and I will send you the Password. Pretty sneaky, Hugh!. Better yet, send $20.00 and I will send you a disk with about five more E-Cards ( birthday, have a great day, etc.) plus a copy of FreeRam1.1 and FreeRam1.2. You can't beat that! About $50.00 worth of software for $20.00!
10. This E-Card will run on both black and white machines (MacPlus and SE's) as well as newer color machines. It does not want to run with monitors set to thousands plus, and there is an alert that will tell you to set your card to 256 colors for best results if a setting of more than 256 colors is encountered.
11. Several people have had trouble with my E-Cards and have rebuilt the desktop and turned off extensions etc. to correct the problem. It didn't work. Their problem seemed to be that they had a corrupted hard drive and had to run the Disk First Aid disk that came with their computer and/or the Norton Utilities Disk Doctor to correct the problems. I suggest that you try the same thing if you have any problems. If you still have problems send me an irate letter telling me all about it. I did find several glitches in the program that caused problems from time to time, but not all the time. These types are especially painful. You think everything is fine and then, BINGO! Crash and Burn. I think this version (1.0.6) is bug free.(fingers crossed).
8/13/94. Requires a Mac running System 7 or higher.
Before doing anything else, make several backUp copies of this E-Card™. Feel free to make as many copies of this card as you want. It is good until 7/1/95. At that time you need to buy a new E-Card™.
This ElectronicGreetingCard™ is a "Your Invited" card that allows the user to enter the name or title of the person they are sending this E-Card™ to as well as the sender's name or title. When this application is first opened it will display an animated "Your Invited" window. Click on it and it will close itself and open a second window with a very wise saying plus a recorded sound. Click on it and it will close itself and open a third window with a text-edit field in it. This is where you can leave a message. It will automatically be saved when you click the go-away box. This will then bring up the "Settings" dialog box(window). This is where you enter the name of the person that you are sending the card to, as well as your own name. Of course, any title or name will work. You can at this point set the recorded sound that was played on the second window to what you desire. Click on the Record Sound button and the sound-record dialog box will be displayed. Click on record, record and save your sound. Remember that long sounds take up a lot of memory. When you click the Save button you will hear what your sound sounds like. Then click on the "SAVE" button and a PASSWORD dialog box will appear asking you for your password. Enter the correct password and everything will be saved and the application will also quit. If you don't have the password, the program will let you know and return you to the Settings Dialog Box. You will have to exit the application using the QUIT button. If you clicked the SAVE button without the password, all the information on the four windows will be saved except the YOURNAME option. The next time the application (E-Card™) is opened, it will present all of the name/title options that you have previously selected as well as your new recorded sound at the end of the second (poem/wise saying) window. If you want to record a long sound message, change the application memory size in the get info box. If some of the E-Card features don't seem to work right, increase the application memory size. Make sure the monitor is set to 256 colors or less. This E-Card™ is intended to be sent by either saving it to a disk and mailing it, or by sending it over the phone line to a person's BBS (electronic) mail box. This is just the beginning of a whole line of E-Cards™. Look for the Birthday 2.3.2 card that has already been uploaded. I just finished a "Have a Great Day" as well as a "Happy Anniversary" E-Card also. I am a 47 year old private piano teacher trying to break into the world of Mac programming. It's not easy. I am totally self-taught. I am also totally broke after buying my new Macintosh Performa 475. (thank God for plastic) Please help me to continue my programming efforts by supporting this shareware. You pay for paper greeting cards that can't do half of what mine do, and you can only use them once! You may freely distribute this E-Card™ as long as this Read Me file is included. This card will be partially disabled as of 7/1/95. You will not be able to change the names/titles option. This E-Card™ was created using Think C 5.0.3 on a Performa 475.
